Care & Maintenace

Basic care will help preserve and protect your Gt40 watch .

Here are some tips and care instructions to keep your timepiece looking it very best.

CHEMICALS

Watches must not be worn around chemicals or solvents. Contact with acetone and alcohols should be avoided, contact with perfumes should also be avoided to preserve the leather, case and water resistant seals.

SHOCK

All watches are shock-resistant coated. However, care must be taken to avoid extremely hard dropping or knocking hard objects.

DUST

Dust can enter a watch if there is any damage to case, crystal or crown. Have your watch repaired immediately if the crystal becomes loose, chipped or cracked as a small particle of dust could cause the movement to stop all together.

MAGNETISM

Avoid exposing the watch to strong magnetic fields as it may affect the watch's precision, time keeping or cause it to stop.

TEMPERATURE

The watch should not be exposed to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, hot or cold.

Thermal shocks should also be avoided as to not shatter the crystal.

WATER RESISTANCE

Before immersion your watch in water, check that the crown and gaskets are fully screwed down against the case in order to preserve its water-resistance.

After every immersion to salt water, rinse the watch in fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth.

We recommend yearly maintenance and/or in case a severe shock.

Note that leather strap can be discoloured by water.

WINDING

As it is the action of the wearer’s wrist that wind the movement and maintain maximum power, the power reserve will begin to drain if there is not enough movement, causing the watch to stop. You can wind it by turning the crown - unscrewed or in neutral position – clockwise 40 times. This will start the watch, giving it sufficient power reserve to function normally.

Never open the watch yourself. If your watch needs repair or adjustment contact our customer care team and follow instructions for mailing it direct to GT40 authorized service center.
